I posted this easy diy flower hair accessory a few years back and thought I would share it again since it has been getting so much attention on Pinterest. Unfortunately after I changed the name of my shop and blog from Bohemian Backbone to Native Moss, many of my posts have been lost somewhere in Internet land.
So here you go! An easy step by step tutorial for a flower hair accessory. Feel free to pin this again!
What you will need:
Hot glue gun
Flower (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
Bendable hair clips
Felt (I found pre-cut rounded felts that fit perfectly at Hobby Lobby.)
Carefully take the flower apart, petal by petal. You will want to remove all of the plastic materials that are holding the flower together. Keep the Pistil!! That’s the pretty coloring right in the middle!
(I found that removing the plastic really helped the flower glue better to the hair clip and it wasn’t so bulky.)
Take your bendable metal hair clip and a piece of the pre-cut felt. Use your hot glue gun to glue the felt on the roundest part of the hair clip. Make sure you don’t glue the felt over the part that bends!
Glue the hair clip (felt side down) to the bottom side of your first (biggest) flower petal.
Now we need to put the flower back together! Flip your flower back over right side up and glue each piece back together one by one…
Glue each piece…..keep going!
Glue the Pistil right in the middle of this little beauty to give it some color–
Show her off! You can choose any type and size of flower that you want. I love the over-sized ones myself! Heeellllooooo people, everything is bigger in Texas right?
I love to make these! It’s super inexpensive and it took me less that 15 min. (After a lot of practice) I have made one for all of my friends. I also think it would make a fabulous hair accessory for your wedding day
deer antler charm necklace
I’m back at it and making jewelry again. My little guy just turned a year old. ONE YEAR you guys! It’s so bittersweet and I’m sure all of the moms and dads out there can relate. It has been a fantastic year and I’m finally ready to start doing a little more for myself during my free time or better known as nap time.
There will be no laundry to fold, dishes to wash, toys to pick up during this 2 hour break in my day! Why in the world would any sane mother want to clean during her break is beyond me. But I digress.
I am back at focusing on the native moss shop and making fun jewelry again. I love making new pieces. It’s so fun to get creative again and even more fun to wear it!
I have already re-listed my tiny skull charm necklace HERE. It’s perfect for this time of year don’t you think? I have tested this necklace around a 12 month old and let me tell you that it stood up to his little hands all day long so even though it looks delicate, it is actually very strong.
I just listed this magical little deer antler charm necklace. It is truly one of a kind because the little blue horn charm is almost vintage so there will only be one exactly like this available.
Here is a little about this necklace. I hope you like it!

I am about 80% ready for Baby B’s arrival….I think.
Really though, if he/she decides to come early I wouldn’t freak out. At the very least, we have a car seat, a safe crib with a safe mattress, diapers, and lot’s of love. I think that’s a good start.
I am almost done with the nursery, and can’t wait to take pictures. Just waiting on Brian to finish staining the dresser and I would love to have a bookshelf.
Here are a few of my recent finds for the little one. I am really excited about both of them.
1. Maya wrap baby sling. I ordered this in a large and it’s gorgeous. They suggested a medium for my size/height, but I really wanted a longer tail so I bought a size bigger. The only difference in size is the length of the tail. I also love the rich green color! I can’t wait to use this when the baby gets a little bigger.
2. Itzbeen pocket nanny. A sweet friend of mine wanted to send us a gift and asked me if I would be interested in a nursing timer. Honestly, I was just going to keep track of feeding and sleeping times in a notebook, but this is genius. Anything that will make life a little easier with a newborn around sounds good to me! It helps to keep track of baby changing, baby feeding, napping & waking. Also, it can be used as a soft-glow nightlight, the nursing reminder helps moms remember which side the baby nursed from last, AND a display backlight lets you read times in the dark. Best thing ever. Really looking forward to this. Thanks Rachel!
I have wanted to play along with the the photo a day challenge from fat mom slim for awhile now. I usually think about it two weeks into the month and tell myself I will do it the next month, then forget again.
By some kind of miracle, I remembered this month. I mean, it really is a miracle y’all. I am in full blown baby and nesting mode over here. That and working on the shop, my brain is all sorts of crazy.
If you would like to play along, you can go HERE to read a little more about it! You can also follow my photos on instagram. My user name is keribotch.
I’ve added a 14K gold filled version of the sideways cross necklace to the shop! I love this necklace, and wear it all the time. It really goes with everything.
Also, I’m giving you the option to choose your own necklace length up to 20 inches at no extra cost! I usually wear about a 16 inch, but I prefer my necklaces on the shorter side.
I wrap all of my jewelry in a cute little box so it’s perfect for gift giving!
